Poem of the Week: The Drop

The drop.

The moment in which the whole world comes to a stop,

A screeching halt,

An internal revolt,

A bolt through the heart.

A scream.

A drop.

It clatters to the floor,

Out the wail pours,

A flinging open of doors,

Brought to all fours,

There is no more.

The clock.

A tick followed by a tock,

The continuation of time is a shock,

That the world did not lock in place,

Tears running down a face,

A cruel pace,

Life so easily erased.

Tick.

Tock.

Such a terrible shock.

You drop.
