With the transition of spring into summer, the well-loved TV shows prepare to air. Anyone in need of something to do may, watch, or re-watch the previous seasons to jump right in.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” – Season 3 (July)
A popular show that revolves around Belly, a teenage girl caught in a love triangle with the Fisher brothers. “It was cringy in the best way, because it was it was like a good escape from reality,” says Callia Pisias Norris, an OHS freshman. “I liked the character development and drama between the brothers and Belly,” sophomore Tavia Parrington adds.
The big question is: Team Jeremiah or Team Conrad? “I was team Jeremiah for a little bit, but I’m now team Conrad,” Pisias Norris states. Many fans switch sides after realizing Conrad understands Belly better. “I’m Team Jeremiah because Conrad’s looks are not serving,” freshman Susanna Yan comments. TikTok debates often include this reasoning, believing that his charm and attractiveness prove a good fit for Belly.
“I’m team against Belly because she hurt both of them,” Parrington states. Throughout the show, Belly bounces back and forth between the brothers and causing them to ruin their relationship. Fans look forward to seeing how the characters’ lives will turn out and discovering who Belly will choose in July on Prime Video.
“Ginny & Georgia” – Season 3 (June 5)
The comedy-drama Netflix show, infamous for being cringy, follows a mother and daughter going through different conflicts and settling into a new town after a life on the run. It explores themes of race, mental health, and teenage drama. “I thought the first two seasons were really weird, but there were some good parts,” Brynn Bolender, a freshman at OHS, comments. Season three will reveal how Ginny and Georgia’s darkest secrets threaten to break their already delicate relationship.
“Squid Games” – Season 3 (June 27)
The well-known Korean thriller series will be releasing its third and final season. The show is about a group of people playing children’s games with deadly consequences in hopes of winning money. “There was so much suspense, and every episode ended on a cliffhanger, which made me wanna keep watching,” Bolender comments. “It’s really thrilling, and it had me on the edge of my seat,” Yan adds. The exciting show has viewers amped and curious about how it will end.
“You” – Season 5 (April 24)
“You” is a thriller show that follows the main character, Joe Goldberg, who gets unsettlingly obsessed with women. The fifth and final season was recently released. “It’s about this guy that kills people because he has a crush on them,” Bolender states. “I love the suspense. It’s really captivating and there’s a character for everyone, and it always keeps you in.”
