The Olympus

Poem of the Week: Meteor Shower

The sky’s freckles twinkle with a spark of curiosity.

I watch from below.

Earbuds in.

From the corner of my eye, I catch a glimpse

of an invisible knife cutting open the sky.

Fast it appeared, and fast it went-

The sky leaves no blemish unattended.

More tiny blades from out of nowhere

rain across its face above

until the bright lines streaking across

hypnotize my heart and soul.

The hour it existed

lasted one thousand years.

Then the sky sheds its midnight colored coat

fading into an ombre shade.

Scarlet rays break across the horizon.

Earbuds out.
