Proving K-pop can tackle more than just pop music. K-pop boy group P1Harmony released their latest mini album “UNIQUE” on March 12, 2026, keeping their same concept but with a new sound.
Under FNC Entertainment, this six-member group consists of Yoon Keeho, Choi Taeyang (known as Theo), Choi Jiung, Hwang Intak, Haku Shota (known as Soul) and Kim Jongseob. They covered lots of different styles and genres in the past with popular title tracks such as “EX” and “Killin’ It,” but this release is their most diverse one yet.
This album dives deep into the genre of EDM (electronic dance music), Brazilian Funk and R&B. With strong vocals and impressive raps, all the songs fit the album while having vastly different sounds.
The title track, also named “UNIQUE” shows a new side of P1Harmony with strong verses and powerful percussion that are typical of Brazilian Funk. Lyrics like “Y’all can’t be us, never, my crew unique”
emphasize the song’s message of teamwork and individuality. Members also pair this energetic song with even higher energy dance moves, adding to the song’s dynamic.
Another element that adds to this album is the concept and storytelling involved. Since the group’s debut in 2020, their music has followed a lore of six superheroes with special powers. The storyline is shown in nearly every music video and has been evident in the concept teasers for this comeback. Prior to the release, P1Harmony posted a six-minute teaser titled “THE HERO IS MISSING” along with multiple missing posters of each member, leaving fans waiting eagerly for this album.
Notable b-side, “Triple 7,” also uses strong beats but leans more into the hip-hop and rap genre. Rappers Hwang and Kim stand out the most in this track, having witty wordplay in both Korean and English while keeping a steady flow.
Contrasting the previous synth-heavy tracks, “Wednesday Girl” is a pop R&B track with sweet, romantic lyrics. This seems to be the most similar to previous songs they have released, such as “Dancing Queen” and “Fall In Love Again.” It has a catchy, upbeat tempo that gets stuck in your head easily.
Overall, this album has just highlighted how much variety P1Harmony has as a musical artist. Most P1ece (the group’s fanbase) were pleasantly surprised at the new sound, as the “UNIQUE” music video has already reached over 12 million views within the past 24 hours.
