While teenagers might not think their voices are heard by the government, there are many ways to get involved. This past week, volunteers at OHS have been encouraging young voters to get registered.

Poll worker Lisa Ornstein explained, “People think their voices don’t matter… [but] your voice might just be the difference between who you want to see in office and out of office.”

She mentioned that she registered over 2300 votes since 2018, most of them being high school students.

Ornstein also shared that she joined the cause because she believes in a nation indivisible with liberty and justice, and in 2017 she found herself very concerned about where politics were heading.

She elaborated, “When we are in our best moments, in hope and not fear, then we know there is an opportunity to make a change.”

She concluded by describing how good voting makes people — of all ages — feel.
